Pledge to Resist Fear and Hate

The battle is and always has been a battle for the hearts and minds of white people in this country...We need to become involved with it as if our lives depended on it because really, in truth, they do.

- Anne Braden

Donald Trump continues to to raise the bar on racist rhetoric with attacks on immigrant communities, Black communities, Muslim communities, women- the list goes on and on.
Trump's message of hate is sadly finding support among many white people. It's our job to meet his message with an alternative vision of how to build a country that works for everyone, not just billionaires.

It is clear to us that Trump wants to recruit white people, especially those who have also been failed by a system that caters to those at the top, like Trump himself. Using racism to divide people who have every reason to stand together is not new. It is an age old way to keep poor and working people divided by race. We refuse to join a political agenda founded on hate. White people have a special responsibility to interrupt a process that seeks to mobilize our community against our neighbors of color.

Join us in pledge of resistance- to take action over the next month through conversations with your family, neighbors, faith communities, and others. It’s going to take real risks to get free from fear and oppression - and we’re willing to take those risks.
