OC Showing up in Peaceful Solidarity

The Movement for Black Lives has designated Thursday, July 21st as a National Day of Action.

This is not an anti-police rally, but a demonstration of our solidarity with people of color as they call out for justice. Recent violence shows that the status quo is not working for anyone. We know that unless white folks stand up and show that they do not endorse the assault on Black lives and communities of color, the status quo will continue.

This is a peaceful, multigenerational demonstration, family-friendly and informal. Bring signs if you have them. Please make sure your signs are in keeping with a peaceful demonstration. We will, in keeping with the spirit of SURJ calling people IN, be inviting the Irvine PD to join us in calling for reform and an end to the violence.

Be engaged. Stand up for racial justice!

Enter the parking lot by turning on Civic Center Drive and driving through to find a spot. To get to the demonstration, walk back out on Civic Center Drive and turn Right, walking down Harvard toward Alton. You will walk through an area with trees and lush plantings. We will be on the sidewalk right at the corner of Alton and Harvard.
