#ColumbusHasHadEnough of Police Violence: March & Rally

As hundreds of cities around the country and world have had uprisings in the wake of the police murders of #AltonSterling and #PhilandoCastile, we've seen Black people and allies put their bodies on the line to fight racial injustice and fight for a world where #BlackLivesMatter

Columbus is not exceptional, and just this summer we've lost two Black men by the hands of the police, #HenryGreen and #KawmePatrick.

Join us to show that #ColumbusHasHadEnough! We will gather downtown at Broad & High at 6pm Thursday 7/21 and march to the police station at 120 Marconi Blvd. and hold a rally in front of the police station.

If you wish to speak at the rally or lead chants on the bullhorn, please email surjcolumbusoh@gmail.com.

**We will prioritize Black and brown voices, youth, and those who’ve been directed impacted by police and state-sanctioned violence**

We will be lifting up the Justice for #HenryGreen campaign being led by People's Justice Project.

We demand:

[1] We want an independent investigation by the Department of Justice.

[2] We want Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien to appoint an independent Prosecutor to oversee the case.

[3] We want the Columbus Police to immediately cease the use of armed plainclothes officers in our neighborhoods.

[4] We want the city, the FOP, and the police to enter into good faith negotiations with community stakeholders on how funds currently supporting the Community Safety Initiative should be redirected to safety priorities that residents actually feel will keep them safer this summer.

SURJ Columbus has called this action, following the national call for a Day of Action to uplift this current movement moment and to make visible and undeniable the fact that White folks across the country refuse to be complicit in the assault on Black lives.

We will use direct action as a way to build momentum for White resistance to systems of oppression and violence toward Black folks. If you have any questions please email surjcolumbusoh@gmail.com

Follow us on twitter @SURJColumbusOH and use the hashtag #ColumbusHasHadEnough as the action unfolds.
